Message from LPDTC:

Longs Peak Dog Training Club (LPDTC) is excited to kick off the new year with our trials! In light of the news of the canine respiratory illness that is circulating both in Colorado and across North America, we are making efforts to minimize potential spread so that all participants can enjoy the trials as safely as possible. We are asking that each exhibitor take responsibility for keeping not only their own dogs safe, but also all entered dogs safe.
Absolutely, please keep your dogs home if they are sick or if they are currently quarantined after a known or suspected exposure. Any dog suspected of illness during the trial days will be asked to leave immediately and will not be allowed to return on any subsequent days. No refunds will be provided.
Additionally, we are asking that everyone abide by the direction put forth by the AKC:
- Keep your dog up to date on vaccines, including but not limited to Bordetella, Parainfluenza, and Canine Influenza, and avoid direct contact with other dogs.
- If your dog has been exposed to a dog with an upper respiratory illness but is showing no symptoms, it is recommended you quarantine that dog for a minimum of 2 weeks. Do not take your dog to any areas where other dogs will be.
- If your dog has been exposed to a dog with an upper respiratory illness and is showing symptoms, it is recommended you quarantine that dog for a minimum of 4 weeks after all symptoms have passed. Do not take your dog to any areas where other dogs will be.
- Absolutely, do not take your dog to any events if it is showing signs of respiratory illness such as coughing, sneezing, wheezing, any nasal discharge, lack of energy, or difficulty breathing.
We are implementing the following precautions:
- Please do not bring any unentered dogs.
- Signs will posted to remind everyone to avoid dog-dog contact throughout the weekend.
- Cover your crates and if possible, use a divider between crates.
- If you have concerns about dog-dog contact, signs of illness, etc. while at the trial, please contact the trial chair, Emily Bink. She will be wearing a visor or hat to be easily visible.
- Each ring will have hand wipes, hand sanitizer, and/or gloves for judges and stewards to use at their discretion.
- We are eliminating the practice ring and will use the space for increased distance between crates.
- We encourage you to crate in your car. We will be using the “Remind” application that has been used in other dog sport shows to keep exhibitors updated on where the rings are at. The app is available for both apple/android. More info to come on how to use this!
- Rings and walkways will be mopped with a disinfectant every night and areas will be spot cleaned as needed throughout the days.
Please, make the best choice for both your dog and for all participants in this event so that all may enjoy many more to come in the future.
Parking: Our show site has implemented a new parking lot management system. When you park each morning, be certain that you know your license plate number. Once in the building, you will need to provide your license plate number for free parking. It is important that you do not follow the signs that are outside on the poles in the parking lot.
