The American Spaniel Club is excited to have you join us at our Cockers-Only National Specialty Agility Trial followed by three days of All Breed Agility – July 25-28, 2024 in Colorado Springs, CO!
We are working hard to make this trial not only fun, but safe and comfortable for you and your canine partner.
We’re aware of previous issues with agility trials at our show venue, Norris Penrose Indoor Event Center; however, we’re addressing those issues head on:
– Our one-ring trial will be in the main part of the Indoor Event Center which is fully air-conditioned.
– We have thought long and hard on what would be the best possible surface and how to maintain it. We chose to go straight to the AKC to get this right, and we have contracted the AKC dirt expert and Agility Judge, Mike Padgett, to build out and manage the custom dirt flooring for us.
– We will be bringing in somewhere between 300 to 400 cubic tons of clean dirt, and Mike will be preparing and maintaining the surface for us throughout the weekend. He has done this many times before for AKC trials, and we, along with the AKC Agility Department, are confident that he will give us a safe and secure surface to run on.
– If you have seen a Wait List for the trials, please don’t let it discourage you. The trial opened with a three-week priority for cocker spaniels, to ensure all the cockers traveling to Colorado for the National would have a spot in the trial. If you entered during this time, you were put on a waitlist until that priority period was over. The priority period is over now, so you will see the wait list numbers drop. There is plenty of time to enter, so get those entries in!
